Valentines Day Origin
The true origin of love poems for valentines day through love notes isn't completely clear and opinions vary about valentines day history.
It's thought to have originated with a priest named St. Valentine, and that sounds logical.
At any rate, these love notes mainly in the form of love poems professing serious love and an expression of one's most personal feelings of adoration for someone else, carried on from the 1800's as a day shared by loved ones, and celebrated on February 14th.

Timeless Valentine
As time goes by from year to year,
One thing is surely true, my dear.
Though decades come and decades go,
Just seeing you, sets me aglow.
Time shifts my body, I start to sag,
When I pass a mirror, it can make me gag.
My joints all ache, I can hardly move,
Still a smile from you, and I'm in the groove.
Getting older can be a pain,
But with you along, I can't complain.
Despite the things that we go through,
I know I'll never stop loving you.
Your loving heart turns life to play,
As we laugh at time from day to day.
So I write this poem, and I'll hang my sign,
Saying, "Always Be My Valentine."

Love is like a Cabbage
My love is like a cabbage
Divided into two,
The leaves I give to others,
The heart I give to you.

Roses are Red
Funny-Valentine-Poems
Roses are red
violets are blue
carnations are sweet
and so are you.
And so are they
that send you this
and when we meet
we'll have a kiss.

The Kangaroo's Courtship
Oh will you be my wallaby?
Asked Mr. Kangaroo.
For we could find so very many
jumping things to do.
I have a pocket two feet wide
and deep inside,
my dear, you'd ride...,
Oh, come and be my bouncing bride,
my valentine, my side-by-side,
I am in love with you.

Plenty of Love
Plenty of love,
tons of kisses,
hope some day
to be your Mrs.

Veggie Valentine
You may not "carrot" all for me,
the way I care for you.
you may "turnip" your nose
when I plead with you.
But if your "heart" should "beet" with mine,
forever "lettuce" hope,
there is no reason in the world
why we two "Cantaloupe."

Valentine-Poetry
By Author Jeanne Losey
Cabbage always has a heart,
green beans string along.
you're such a cute tomato,
will you peas to me belong?
You've been the apple of my eye,
you know how much I care.
So, lettuce get together,
we'd make a perfect pear.
Now, something's sure to turnip
to prove you can't be beet.
So, if you carrot all for me,
let's let our tulips meet.
Don't squash my hopes and dreams now,
bee my honey, dear.
Or tears will fill potato's eyes,
while sweet corn lends an ear.
I'll cauliflower shop and say,
your dreams are parsley mine.
I'll work and share my celery,
so be my valentine.
He Sent His Love a Valentine
He sent his love a Valentine,
his love did not reply.
We never dare to care to sign
these things, I wonder why.
